The Problem
Sound familiar?

Every LTO tape user faces the same frustrations. TapeVault solves all three.

Hours wasted finding files
You know the file is on one of 20 tapes. But which one? Manual label checking takes 2+ hours every time.
👤
Archive lost when staff leaves
When the person who organized the tapes leaves, the archive becomes a mystery. No index, no metadata, no thumbnails.
📼
Full recall just to preview
Without thumbnails, you must recall the entire file to check if it's the right one. Wastes tape drive time and staff hours.
🔍
Search in 30 seconds
Type the filename, date, or metadata. TapeVault searches all tapes instantly and shows exactly where the file is.
🗄️
Permanent metadata database
Every file is indexed with metadata, checksum, and location. Staff changes never affect your archive organization.
🖼️
Thumbnails without recall
TapeVault auto-generates thumbnails for every video file. Browse visually and confirm before recalling from tape.
Real Software. Real UI.
See exactly what you get

These are actual screenshots from TapeVault v1.0.0 — no mockups, no illustrations.

STEP 01
All your files,
visible at a glance
Open any project folder and see every file as a thumbnail — videos, PDFs, images, ZIP files — all organized exactly as you archived them. Switch between grid view and list view instantly.
  • Thumbnail grid view for visual browsing
  • List view with filename, size, date, and status
  • Color-coded tape status badges (archived / queued)
  • Filter by file type, date, or tape
💡 Green badge = already on tape. Blue = waiting in queue. You always know the status of every file.

See everything about it.
Select any file and the right panel instantly shows the video thumbnail preview, file type, resolution, size, tape location, checksum, and your custom metadata notes. No waiting. No recalling.
  • Auto-generated video thumbnail preview
  • Full file metadata: codec, resolution, date, size
  • Exact tape path and tape name shown
  • Custom notes: cameraman, location, owner
💡 Know exactly what's on the tape before you eject it and insert a new one. Zero guesswork.

List view for
power users

  • Sort by any column — name, size, date, status
  • VT TEST badge = confirmed on tape
  • One-click select multiple files
  • Batch add to tape write queue
💡 Select 50 files, add to queue, and start writing — in under 30 seconds.

  • Built-in video player — no external software
  • Supports MP4, MOV, MXF, AVI, H.264, H.265
  • Confirm the right file before recalling to storage

in 3 clicks

  • LTFS format — cross-platform compatible
  • LTO-4 through LTO-9 supported
  • Volume label auto-recognized on future inserts
  • Tape serial number linked to physical label
💡 New tape registered and ready to archive in under 60 seconds.

FAQ
Questions before buying?
Does TapeVault work without an internet connection?+
Yes. TapeVault is fully offline after the initial license activation. No ongoing internet connection is required. This makes it ideal for air-gapped environments in broadcast, defense, and medical sectors.
What happens to my data when my subscription expires?+
Your archived data on tape is always yours — it's stored in standard LTFS format, which is readable by any LTFS-compatible software. TapeVault's database and project index remain accessible in read-only mode after expiry.
Is there automatic renewal?+
No. There is no automatic renewal. TapeVault does not store credit card details. You will receive a reminder before expiry and can choose to renew manually.
Which LTO generations are supported?+
TapeVault supports LTO-4 through LTO-9 drives. LTO-10 support is planned for v1.1. Both single drives and autoloaders (AUTOLOADER plan) are supported.
What is the difference between Starter and AutoLoader?+
Starter is designed for a single standalone LTO drive. AutoLoader adds support for tape autoloaders and libraries — automated slot management, multi-drive operation, and batch archive/restore jobs. If you have a tape library (e.g. Quantum, Overland), you need the AutoLoader plan.
Can I install TapeVault on multiple computers?+
Each license covers one computer at a time. You can transfer the license to a different machine as needed — just deactivate on the old machine and activate on the new one. An internet connection is required only during the transfer.

Stop searching tapes manually.
